The roles of the magazine in advertising and video
1. Have an interactive and packed day of talks/interviews, planners will give a specific brief. This will then involve spending a morning immersed in the cultures of magazine brands, gaining hands-on experience of the publishing and editorial environments at some of the UK’s most famous titles.

2. Cable TV has some vocational channels, but magazines take specialising to the next level, Advertising in a magazine that caters to a niche audience of enthusiasts or professionals targets that audience very precisely.

The main purpose of The Graham Norton show:
After a short monologue to begin with , Graham always introduces two guests, however If there was a third guest, they were usually introduced later in the show. If the two guests were connected in some way, for example, Dustin Hoffman and his wife). They would be the only ones introduced at the start. If musical guests were involved in the show, then one of these things would usually happen. Some performers, would be on stage from the very beginning. Others that may not be that famous or well known, would come on stage about 5 to 7 minutes before their performance for a short interview.Their would also sometimes be some musical guests that only performed during the end credits and participated in the 'Cooldown' section of the programme. However, all bands performed during the credits and were interviewed in the 'Cooldown' segment.

The main purpose of The One Show:

It features topical stories and studio guests throughout the majority of most episodes. Various reporters will assist with the specific presenting, both in the studio and on location or through filmed segments. The show covers a variety of stories, ranging from the light hearted humour to the serious issues or tragic current events. The broadcast features a mix of in-studio presenting, outside live broadcasting, and pre-recorded segments. Reporters and other experts are included to provide contributions on various topics, both in the studio and as part of segments. Special guests are usually introduced at the top of the show, and remain throughout, often being encouraged to interact with it in various ways, as opposed to simply answering questions.
Inside the studio, videotaping is done in front of a small standing audience, and focuses on two sofas (one for the two presenters, one for guests and contributors usually arranged around a coffee table, often serving a practical use, ( during food tasting.) Use of the forecourt of Broadcasting House for outside live broadcasts is common, allowing for a larger audience or a bigger stage for a performance or demonstration. The show will also often take an active part in events such as Comic Relief/Sport Relief and Children in Need.

The main purpose of Blue Peter:

It is a significant part of British culture, it first aired in 1958 and is the longest-running children's TV show in the world. Although the show has a nautical title and theme, it is a magazine/entertainment show containing viewer and presenter challenges, as well as the famous arts and crafts "makes".

Identifying the structure of magazine TV shows:

The Graham Norton Show- the show has been quoted as a ' light-hearted' comedy show with fame, fashion and musicians included. The beginning of the show will typically be a short discussion of the latest news headlines with the host and the audience, before the guests are bought on stage, the host will mock the main news story usually aimed at politics or crime. The show will usually follow the structure of then introducing the guests one by one; the first guest will typically be a comedian followed by several film stars to promote their latest film and then later in the show a music performance to close the show. A show like this that is usually shown late on a friday night is a great way to welcome the weekend after a long hard-working day, the show is typically aimed at the working class who would want to relax by watching this or also the lowest level of substance as they don't have anything planned.
This compared to blue peter or loose women is completely different as both of those shows are aimed at different socio-economic groups, loose women would be aimed at the lowest level of substance only as its daytime TV, the working class or skilled working class wont be at home so therefore wont be able to view daytime programmes. Graham Norton doesn't include any outside broadcasting as the whole programme is broadcast inside a main studio, however depending on which guests are on the show he may bring up a photo that a film star might have posted online, or a comedy act printing posters about their new tour will also be shown onscreen, included with opinions from the guests on each other as well as occasional competitions including the audience and rare debates, also including ' the big red chair' at the end of the show where audience members can tell the guests a famous or comedic story about themselves.

Loose women- The show is one of the longest running daytime TV magazine shows available on cable TV, it will usually involve discussions and debates towards the latest news headlines involving politics and any celebrity gossip they can find for example suspicious tweets, status updates on social media and potential beef between a guest they may have on the show and another celebrity, e.g. Piers Morgan and Alan Sugar. This show compared to the Graham Norotn show is incredibly different as his show is produced after the watershed ( 9pm ). Whilst this is shown in the daytime and any strong language said in the programme will bring controversy and opinions from its audience on whether the show should continue or be axed because of offensive behaviour or language. This show is a little similar to the One Show as they both have guests to talk about upcoming roles in films, release of CDs or a comedians soon Stand-up tour.
Engaging with a public audience; Topic, Footballers wages, their earnings on and off the pitch ( footballers brands, CR7 ) and are the deals of the players really worth it based on how they play??

Summary of my primary research:

The idea from my questionnaire was to gather peoples opinions on whether football players earn too much also to gather information from people that think some players aren't played enough and should be payed more based on how they play. To begin with i asked a question that bought back many different opinions from the target audience of 15-19 year olds. Out of the people that completed the survey, a surprising 60% of people agreed with the statement of " an average footballer is under less pressure as he is earning less than the more famous and well-known players" that caused a 20% split from people that didn't think a player would be under less pressure and 20% of people weren't sure whether it would have an effect and pressurised an average footballer. Another question that caused a bit of controversy was asking my target audience to name one player that in your opinion earns his salary whether that be playing to a good level of consistency or just a player that stands out amongst others but isn't getting recognised, the results were interesting.... "Toby Alderweirald has been at the top of his game for several years but isn't paid nearly enough" said one fan, another interestingly said that Gareth Bale wasn't earning enough after moving to a new club a few years ago. After his club captain and leader Ronaldo left the club the fans were expecting him to step up and fill the boots of his predecessor, some are happy and say that he has however some aren't so sure. A final question taken from my primary research that got a lot of interest " Is it fair for a footballer to have decreasing wage prices as he gets older?" A surprising outcome saw 30% of people say that it is fair to have wages decrease as players get older, mainly due to them being past their prime. Others gave answers such as; They will be weaker when playing and They'll be nearing retirement, both really got points that were made, I will have to agree with the answers; they'll be nearing retirement and not fuss over the pay and also the point of being past their prime.

The debate of footballers wages will divide a nation, several newspaper writers will love to cause conflict and heated arguments amongst the majority of people. An example of this would be buyers of the daily mail or the observer may think that footballers earn too much and don't show their earnings when it comes to playing on the pitch, you will also need to consider the Socio-economic groups of which working classes will buy a newspaper. For example someone who is a working class will most likely buy either the daily mail or observer whilst an unemployed or stay at home mother/father would buy the sun or the metro. The papers may put points across to the public differently varying on each newspaper, somebody who buys the metro will probably have a different opinion of football players wages than a working class person earning a lot less than they are who read The telegraph or The observer.

An article written by John Foot from 2008, gives an insight as to how far wages have come and even 8 years ago money in football was still ridiculously expensive and players form just went out the window as they knew that they would be earning piles of money daily. John Foot began by stating that at the time Portsmouth were days away from falling into administration and Manchester United were in major debt however this proved nothing to Manchester City who in 2008 signed a player to a wage of £221,000 a week which at the time was the highest paid in the world. He went onto quote
In football, the sky is the limit. When Bryan Robson became the first £1,000-a-week footballer in 1981, there was outrage in the land. I remember fans singing "what a waste of money" at Robson during games. Now, nobody even notices. There are two possible reactions to the news of Touré's contract. One is simply to shrug your shoulders and say: "That's how the market works." The other is disbelief. An average player on £221,000 a week! Football has clearly gone mad, and nobody is doing anything to stop this madness.

Evaluation:

Positives- I am happy with my final product for this unit for a magazine show, I feel like choosing the topic of footballers wages and just money in football as a whole was a great idea to showcase opinions and potentially start debates between members of the public. I'm happy with the amount of research i did on this topic, it was a topic i already knew a fair amount of knowledge for but having research to back it up helped a lot. I was happy with the outcome of my unit 10 project and would be happy to show it to others for help and improvement if needed, In my project i showed that i was able to understand the best way to record from a camera so that it catches every angle of an important presentation as an example, as well as soundproof audio that can then be edited into the presentation so that it has full effect of the finalised product/video production.

Negative:

There are many improvements that I can take from this production, one of the most obvious can be to read through the script thoroughly so their are no slip-ups when filming, this will also mean that their won't be any cutting needed to make the video flow better. I did want to include more than one person to discuss this chosen topic with me, however there wasn't anyone else who had some knowledge on what footballers are paid and who isn't worth what others say they are, this would've made the debate more open and it would leave others to ask more questions to others and this could also be put online and across social media to let the whole world have their opinion on this subject. In the future I will take these mistakes and learn from them so that I can then produce my best quality work with no issues with filming, script writing and awkward camera angles, I will correctly change all of these when it comes to making my FMP.
